Yesterday Terri came over to help prep the space we are going to turn into Matt’s workshop
It’s probably been years since the shed was gone thru
We bundled up stuff that we need to leave for the landlord upon their return to the house
Terri loaded the back of her car with stuff to take to the dump
We sprayed the outside of the building down with the hose, swept away the cobwebs, dirt, dust bunnies from inside
It was a good half days work!

This is real, not AI generated
A nice clean palate from which to create a space we hope he will tinker in
Terri has a stool she will bring so Matt has something to sit on in front of the workbench
We have an old comfy chair that will fit nicely right in front of the window
Barb and Ken will be looking for scrap wood from Ken’s shop to enclose under the bench and make 2 shelves (you can see the open brackets to the left here)

For those coming next Wednesday to the work party, there is still plenty to do to bring this to full vision
Some of this list are ideas do things we might place in workspace as fun reminders for him
There are all the awesome fiddle project ideas I have heard bouncing about too…..
Be prepared, his stamina with large groups isn’t what it used to be so if you find a moment one on one with him when you come over, that’s 100% ok
And there are a few things, lots of things, in packed boxes in the watertower we might move into the shed
Like his abalone float: I don’t know why we have moved that thing across the country and back….but we have
Maybe we should blow some air in it and hang it up
Or his motorcycle suit…..it probable should either get donated or used as decor…..risk of him riding is not here since he doesn’t have a motorcycle
Or…..will that remind him of what he can’t do…be too much in the small space?
These are the kinds of decisions we can make as a team next week
There is a bit of a treasure hunt of small things we can pull out of boxes we packed but haven’t unloaded into the house
Little trinkets of memories….including a microscope he got from somewhere…and kept all these years
Next week will be a big Matt week with the workshop coming together with the help of all the family and the Team Matt ride happening that Saturday
I hope he feels the love, recognizes how blessed he is to have so many willing to come together to support him, honor him
To everyone that will be part of Matt’s Workshop and everyone who is supporting or upcoming ride and everyone who has been part of this long journey, thank you from the depth of our souls
