They call it “Environmental Dependency”:
In LBD, the cognitive decline and changes in behavior may lead to difficulties in self-initiation and decision-making, making individuals more susceptible to environmental triggers. This can result in behaviors that seem compulsive or involuntary, as patients may respond to their environment in ways that are not typical for them when they are in a more stable cognitive state.

So…..giving some visuals to this “state”
The shoe in the bathroom sink….
Missed the closet by a room, question really is where is the left shoe?
I should check if there is something on the bottom….maybe he is trying to tell me something

Or this, from last night
How did he actually wedge the chair in between the sink and the toilet?
I guess its not appropriate to ask how or why he did that…..my expectation is he won’t know
Is he trying to tell me the toilet seat isn’t comfortable?

Or this, a random cushion rearranged on a chair
This is but one of several that had its cushions significantly adjusted yesterday evening

My favorite from yesterday, on the way to Lou’s
Several pair of sunglasses were available
I suppose its quite clever to try to leverage the strength of many
And no, none of these are prescription or readers, they are all just regular sunglasses
His creativity, impulses, do give rise to interesting things to observe
I no longer want to “teach” him, “train” him, well, I don’t do that in my stronger moments, please turn your head, cover your eyes and ears in my weaker moments…..
I just quietly grab the cushions formerly resident in the chair in the sunroom from the kitchen floor and relocate them back to their native sunroom habitat
Just like I unwedged the dining room chair from between the sink and toilet……and relocated it back to the dining room table along with its siblings
These things are just done now……nothing is said…..and life goes on
