Living out loud with Lewy Body Dementia

Sista Visit

Barb came up Tuesday to hang with Matt

There is a lot going on in her life, yet she made the time to trek up here to “lay eyes” on her bro

We both truly value and appreciate her making time for us

Her drive is about 2 hours each way, it would have been shorter if we had moved to Marin as originally thought

But moving to Sonoma gave us so much more for the money than we could have gotten in Marin so unfortunately, that makes her trek longer

She and Matt went off to lunch, explored a new burger joint in town

Then she pretended to be me, went to Roche’s beer/wine garden (which, by the way, is lovely)

I’m glad they did it; although our favorite “wine educator” Rodd was scratching his head we are sure!

They went over to see Fletch and Poppy after that

Fletch just had a birthday on the 4th

So they were totally entertained by all the birthday loot he was showing off!

It was a full day for Matt, the kind he loves, lots of family

So yesterday, the day after Barb’s visit, he had a very quiet day with Nora

I spent some time this morning thinking about what projects he and I could do here at the house to engage him a bit more in life, in living

I bought a couple bags of potting soil and some lettuce seeds with vision of creating a wine barrel lettuce garden

I think Matt can help me with that

The peach tree has a ton of peaches on it and Sheba has been eating even the unripe ones that fall to the ground

She barfs up the stone fruit…..so as the peaches ripen, she’s going to have a feast waiting for her if we don’t figure something out, like a temporary fence or a netting of some sort–Matt can help me with that

Oh, and Poppy will be having a procedure that means she can eat all the ice cream she wants for a while, maybe a week or 2, so Matt can help me make special ice cream for Poppy

I’ve been hesitant to set up projects for Matt to help me with because its so easy to dive right into frustration when he can’t process the task at hand or verbal instructions and my “get it done” tendencies come into force

Maybe with my newly expanded respite time, my reserve of patience will be full enough we can have a good college try and maybe a little fun at one or all of these projects

Its worth a try…..
