Spousal Caregiver’s Bill of Rights (SIPS BOR)

I am having a bit of fun this morning, giggling quietly in my quiet place

After suffering a few inequities, including the complete disruption of a night of sleep Friday night

And the unapproved, unauthorized use of MY coffee cup by you know who…..

I felt the creation of a Bill of Rights was in order

These inalienable rights will be documented in visible fashion on the main page of this blog in due course

However, and until then, each of these rights will be introduced in a blog

Amendment #1: Exclusive Rights to the Caregiver’s Coffee Cup

The caregiver shall retain sole ownership and use of the coffee cup from which she is currently drinking.

This right shall apply regardless of:

  • How many identical cups are available in the cabinet.
  • Whether the caregiver has left the room for twelve seconds.
  • Whether the spouse insists that “this one was sitting right here.”

The caregiver shall not be required to surrender her coffee, tea, water, or any other beverage simply because her spouse suddenly decides that her cup is somehow superior to all others.

Violations of this amendment may result in eye rolling, deep sighing, or the immediate procurement of a replacement cup.
