I used to love it when Desi used to come home and find Lucy had been up to something
Her eyes were always big, hoping she wouldn’t get caught, his hands on his hips, knowing she’d been up to something
“Explain” the word, was closer to “eh-splain”” when he said it
In other words, ‘splain dat!
So this comes to mind sometimes when I discover some Matt / Uncle Lewy mischief
The other day I found a roll of toilet paper in the coffee machine where the coffee kraft should have been
I was rather stumped, needless to say, curious why the toilet paper was anywhere near the kitchen and where the kraft went
Scratching my head, I took a picture of this and sent it to Mary
” Lucy, ‘splain dis”
If you know Mary, she has an amazing, always on, sense of humor
She comes back with a plausible:
Well, there is a logical linkage here. Coffee makes you poop typically so just getting ahead of the game by making sure there is TP when needed
So this has become a game between us, I send a picture of a Matt / Uncle Lewy creation, she sends an explanation
Sunday morning, as we were taking off for our over night road trip, I sent her another pic
When I opened the dishwasher to load up some dirties from the counter and sink, I noticed dog food in the upper tray handle compartment
I went to put detergent in, there was dog food in the detergent dispenser
Sigh…… not expecting to have to clean this out as we walk out the door….picture…gotta take a picture and send to Mary:
Dog food should be of human quality so it is just being washed. Further, if all your dishes smell like dog food, Sheba will feel like a princess with many serving dishes
Oh, EB ( her daughter) once ate a dog biscuit her brother gave her and she grew 6 feet tall, so who knows what restorative properties are in dog food.
Yeah, I know, this makes you think twice about coming over for dinner……don’t worry, these situations were quickly rectified
Finding humor on this journey is better than any pill they can give you
But it can be soooooo hard to self generate in the midst
It takes a village, the diversity of skills and opportunities to lean in aren’t always work like
Sometimes all it takes is to sprinkle some goofiness on the situation
