So many of you ask if there are ways you can help us

Sometimes we have the ability to have a discrete answer to that question, often we don’t

Today I wanted to let you know of a way to help if you are so wonderfully inclined

This blog is about our journey with Lewy Body Dementia, LBD

LBD is lumped into the dementia arena and many think its more akin to Alzehimers

The reason is the treatment plan is similar…however , the pathology do Alzheimer’s and Lewy are very different

LBD is actually the same disease as Parkinson’s….same exact pathology

The difference is where the proteins in the brain get initially messed with

For Parkinson’s, the impact is initially in the motor movement area of the brain

For LBD, the initial impact is in the cognitive region

I did a little research on the history of the two diseases on a separate page: Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia: Understanding the Connection

The point being: every step in the direction of a cure or a treatment for Parkinson’s is a step toward a cure or treatment for LBD–a step towards understanding the root cause of all this pandemonium

And its for that reason that we have formed team Matt!

I haven’t mentioned this before in the blog, but our family is impacted by both diseases

You know about Matt’s journey because you have been here with us

But I haven’t told you about our nephew who in his 30’s was diagnosed with Parkinson’s

I haven’t old you our very close family friend, who we all consider a sister, her sister suffered from Parkinson’s and she crossed the rainbow bridge this year

So our family has both sides of this ugly coin, both versions of this same pathology

So we are riding for both Matt and Justin and Judy on September 19th

Our Team Matt page has just been set up and our team members will be getting their pages up and going soon

Any donation is greatly appreciated and will be put to a good cause

Whether you decide to donate to Team Matt or to my page, or any of our team members pages, any donation goes to the same great cause, pushing research in the same direction

Our hope is continued research will begin to reduce and ultimately eliminate journeys like ours

It won’t happen by magic, it won’t happen overnight, it takes hard work and lots of money to fund the research

Searching for a cure, for better solutions, is the only way to find them, to deliver them in the future to those who will follow us
