Uncle Lewy

Living out loud with Lewy Body Dementia

Insert Humor

Mary sent me a few things today: first, a piece of poetry based on the blog entries so far…..

An Ode to Lewy

A New Phase begins where the old paths end,

Trying to honor the man, our love, our friend.

In the quiet of Changes, as things start to shift,

We look for the grace in each small, fleeting gift.

But laughter still echoes in the halls of the home,

Where the Wandering Abalone decides it should roam.

One foot is warm while the other is bare, As the mystery of One Sock hangs in the air.

Like an Alchemist mixing a potion so strange,

Seeking gold in the moments that time cannot change.

Through Real Moments and the long Pooh Days,

We navigate life through a thickening haze.

When the Lewy Lean pulls and the balance is gone,

We find a new rhythm to carry us on.

From the smiles at a Birthday to the spirit of Sully, We love through the fragments, and we love him fully.

In this Our Journey, half-started but true,

We walk it together, the old and the new.

  1. I can DEFINITELY agree with this one. I have laughed so much about the Boob – b que (3rd degree burns on the boobs) but it really is not funny as I face 2nd of 3 surgeries!
