Uncle Lewy

Living out loud with Lewy Body Dementia

Wandering Abalone

Matt’s environmental dependence activities in the evening seem to have calmed down a bit

I wonder if me letting him clean the dinner dishes helps

I say “clean”, what I really probably truly mean is letting him go through the “act” of cleaning, being helpful

He will wash them in the sink, sort of

He will put some away, where ever

The ones put away may still be dirty

So it becomes a bit of a game for us

He “cleans”, later, while he isn’t looking, I put all the “clean” dishes into the dishwasher

I never know how much of Sheba’s help he has enlisted to clean the plates and bowls

Then, phase 2 of the game, I have to find what he has put away

Some discoveries are clear, dirty things are where clean goes

That’s easy, it just moves to the dishwasher whenever I might run across them

The challenge is locating the usual suspects

The rice cooker bowl or lid, it could be anywhere, has been discovered a lot of places it needn’t be

I have looked for hours to find things, changed the menu countless times because the equipment needed was MIA

At some point its not funny anymore

Sometimes its a day or 2 before I locate what I am in search of

That gets us to the abalone

Thursday I finally unpacked my jewelry from my travel sachet I took to VA

That’s why I know it was on the dresser Thursday am

I have an abalone shell that I use as a temporary holding place for small things, mostly jewelry

So Thursday morning I have a clear awareness of the abalone shell

The issue is I only partially unpacked the jewelry, so the abalone was holding some still

Friday morning I realized the abalone shell was missing

I have looked for days now, I even looked in the trash bags in the outside bins

Its no where to be found

So this game has just elevated to the next level………….
