Uncle Lewy

Living out loud with Lewy Body Dementia

a very personal journey. Matt, CJ and Sheba….

This started spontaneously, part therapy, part keeping our peeps informed. I am finding my voice, evolving in this. The perspective is very much from my, CJ’s, perspective; the caregiving wife.

Gus, the therapy dog

Gus is Lori & Mark’s dog

He is a beautiful golden retriever

Still a bit of a puppy, only 2 1/2 years old

They came for a poolside happy hour

Lori warned me as soon as Gus got into the pool gate, he would be immediately in the pool

And she was right, not a second to spare

Watching Gus jump in, swim, bark at himself splashing, get out, jump back in……was the best laugh I have had in sooooo long

Laughter really is good therapy, it’s not a cliche, it’s so true

I took a couple of videos of Gus jumping into the pool, doing his funny Gus routine

Laughter on demand, in hand!

Played and shared the videos this am

Watching him swim, he and Sheba being a couple of kids around the pool, is so very good for my disposition

We laughed and laughed

What is that crazy dog doing?

He’d swim, bark at his own splashes or in sheer joy

Gus, the therapy dog, is welcome anytime!

  1. Dogs can be amazing- I definitely would not have gotten thru some of my life trials without my trusty companions throughout my life !
