Uncle Lewy

Living out loud with Lewy Body Dementia

Matt’s lucky

Even though Uncle Lewy is in the house, making a mess of our lives

Matt is lucky

Counting the ways seems therapeautic

He has family who move heaven and earth to help him

That definitely includes me, I’d realign the stars, sun and moon for him

His sisters have been here right along side of us, on both coasts during this journey

His cousins make extra efforts to be with him, take him to his favorite places, engage his fond memories

We have weekly dinners with his niece’s family since they are just a mile away, she is so very good with him

My family cares deeply, have helped in so many ways

Beyond family love, we have many friends who play a role in raising his quality of life

We have the financial means to weather this storm

That is a huge blessing

So Matt is a very lucky, blessed man in deed

A very loved and supported man

We hiked yesterday and had a series of conversations

I stood eye to eye with him, reminded him how loved he was

Reminded him he was in good financial shape

How lucky he was even in the midst of all this

I will probably start to do that more

It may be the perfect RX to keep Uncle Lewy at bay for a spell.

  2. A loving and supportive family is such a powerful gift! Although you are fiercely missed on “this coast”, I know that you have daily affirmation that your move was the right choice!
