It’s something I could see coming
We talked to the occupational therapist about being worried about that
We lowered the bed by removing the box springs
The occupational therapist worked with him on techniques to get in and out of bed
He tends to sleep, for what reason I have no idea, on the edge of his side of the bed
Time and time again I try to wake him, encourage him to move closer to the middle
No, no, not to the middle middle, you gotta leave me room on my side!
As he tosses and turns, he ends up on that edge
So I’ve been worried for awhile now he might fall out
And he did, in the middle of the night Saturday night
Thunk!
He stands up, I turn the light on, his face contorted like a toddler about to let out a bone crushing wail
He hit his head, his hear, on the bedside table, it’s bleeding
We clean it up, calm him down, stuff a pillow between the bed and the side table incase it’s not the only time he falls out
Wow, it happened, he is ok
We will review this with the in home care team this week for sure
I think it scared him big time
