That’s how many CPE hours I needed to log, take, before New Years

I had this on my to do list all fall

November I took 8 hours, so when I looked at it, in crises mode, second week of December, I still needed 60 hours

Being a numbers person, I calculated how many hours I needed to log each day till the end of the year

The last few weeks, it’s been 5-6 per day, every day

That’s a lot!
I have woken at 4:30 am many days, getting 4 or more hours in before Matt wakes

This is collateral damage from Uncle Lewy

It’s clear, in hind sight, this factored into my recent Pooh days, this was important to me, part of my long term contingency plan, part of my identity

Because this life long achievement was at substantial risk, I had to get this done and it was a monumental task

If I had lost my CPA license to Uncle Lewy, that would have been a very hard pill to swallow, very hard, resentment building hard

The VA board gave me grace when I went to them in the summer, explained my desire to keep it, amend my falling short on CPE during the initial years of this journey

I did not want to dishonor the grace they extended me

As New Years Eve approached, I was closing in on getting my hours in

Had it not been for rainy days mid December when I got 10+ hours in via on demand webinars, I never would have made it

Mary was my cheerleader, cheering from the sidelines, she knew, because she also has her CPA license, what this was all about

There were a couple of unexpected blessings delivered during all this

The firm that bought my employer co is a CPA firm, so there are a lot of folks with this same or similar CPE need

They launched a new CPE program and had a game to get folks to use it…..that’s how I became aware

Most CPE courses are boring, let’s face it, that’s part of why 68.8 hours was such a daunting task

But this new CPE platform was different, they delivered the content in a very easy to consume method, game changing if you ask me

I took courses on interesting stuff: Lego’s business history, the WireCard fraud story, Story of Croc’s, yes the ugly shoe, an episode was on the investment Microsoft made into Apple in the late 80’s, and many more

I think 40+ hours were taken on that platform where I was totally engaged and entertained

Unheard of, and, added bonus, it was free to me!

High quality and free…..how often does that happen? Right……

The other blessing was, after I reached out to inquire, they provided me the specific VA ethics course I needed, free

That’s hundreds of dollars that stayed in my pocket

I don’t think that this platform is an everything platform, so I will need to take other boring courses as I move forward, but in my darkest CPE hours, boy was it a breath of needed fresh air!

You may be wondering, did I get all the credits in? The answer is yes, plus an extra one for good measure

So as the New Year begins, I don’t have that ugly cloud of deficit over me anymore

What a relief!

Uncle Lewy, you lost that battle! Ha!
