We need to sell the Virginia house
This is the season, holding on to it through the winter adds a complexity to life we just don’t need or want
The house has been so good for us
Protected us during Covid with its generous yard
Cradled Granny at night during her many visits
Allowed us to spend an amazing amount of time with her, celebrate her
The house enabled us to spend tons of time with Mom, to celebrate Mom too
We had large family Thanksgivings there, letting us bring together Granny’s family in her last few years
That meant a lot to me, a lot to her, a lot to many
There are pain memories in that house, the beginning of this journey we are on now
The moments of confusion, anger, hurt, sadness, dispair
There are living life memories there too, happy memories
Like when Granny and I tried to crab from the pier only to have all our bait eaten by the “ turtle monster”
(he was an old crusty ugly looking thing!)
Like when Ryland, Ken and Jim found old fishing poles and fished off the dock, Ryland found worm bait in the yard dirt
The morning I named Raphael the River Otter and then learned the story of Otter 841 from Barb
The huge hedonistic seafood fest we had one summer, what a delicious mess that was!
Launching from the beach on paddle boards and kayaks…….and Paul’s amazing kayak flips (how did he do that?)
Now, it’s time that house embraced a new family
Create new memories, cradle another, allow for coming together of others, enfold when hard times hit, shelter from storms, house celebrations
If you pray, please pray for that new next family to find our lovely spot and fall in love, to see themselves there
Pray they find peace, love, support and make new wonderful memories
It comes with great neighbors, the best
And Barley needs a new girlfriend…..so the new family should have a doggie too!
