Uncle Lewy

Living out loud with Lewy Body Dementia

a very personal journey. Matt, CJ and Sheba….

This started spontaneously, part therapy, part keeping our peeps informed. I am finding my voice, evolving in this. The perspective is very much from my, CJ’s, perspective; the caregiving wife.

He has a tail

His pants and belts are projects now

A lot of time is spent fiddling with them

Eventually, sometimes, he gives up and lets me pull the button thru the hole, buckle his belt

Today, he put his swim suit on backwards.

He put his jeans on top.

His drawstring for his swimsuit dangles over the back of his pants.

It looks like he has a tail.

We are on our way out to meet friends.

Should I suggest he go inside, take them off, turn his suit around?

That will take time.

Let’s just go.

We arrive at our destination

I remember he had a tail.

There is a good chance I could have forgotten.

We walk towards the entry door

in the gravel parking lot

I put my arm around him

I whisper in his ear, you have a tail

your swimsuit is on backwards and the drawstring is dangling behind you

I am tucking it in.

He smiles, lets out a Matt laugh

All is going to be ok.
